LA BERGERIE

Nick and Nadia have lived in France for over twenty years renovating old character buildings for themselves and clients, running gites and more recently  running a tearoom in nearby Angles sur anglin.The area. La Vienne is located between Paris and Bordeaux, within easy reach of the Chateaux of the Loire , the amazing theme park of Futuroscope and fine vineyards. It is an area of rolling countryside and beautiful rivers, historical towns, animal and nature reserve parks.
The village of Vicq-sur-Gartempe , is as it's name suggests on the lovely Gartempe river. Here you will find a pic-nic area. In the village itself there is a small grocery shop, bakers (don't forget to try Eric's pain au chocolat ), bar and post-office.
Closeby you will find Angles sur Anglin with its winding streets and ruined chateau. There is a tourist office, bars and restaurants and the Roc aux Sorciers where you can see prehistoric rock carvings (the Lascaux of sculpture).
La Roche Posay - a spa town renowned for its curative waters, casino horse racetrack, golf-course and well-being centre offering treatments and massage. Don't miss the tuesday morning market selling delicious local produce. You will find more bars and restaurants here as well as a large supermarket. 
The nearest large supermarket is at Yzeures-sur-Creuse, at 8kms.
Slightly further away are the lovely medieval towns of Chauvigny with magnificent market and eagle shows from its ruined chateau. 
St. Savin with its abbey and UNESCO protected frescoes.
Poitiers is the regions capital and offers an excellent selection of shops, covered market and medieval churches.
